CULTURE, ART & MUSIC LEAD THE WAY IN WESTPORT, CT

Located on the Long Island Sound, the New England town of Westport, CT is one of the wealthiest areas to live in Connecticut and the US. Archaeological research supports evidence of inhabitants in the area over 7,500 years ago. In the late 1600s, settlers came to the native Pequot land and was later incorporated in 1835. Initially the town was the country’s lead onion-growing center, but the industry later transitioned to mills, factories and a shipping center. Largely due to the proximity from New York City, Westport began to turn into a cultural center and creative haven around the 1910s. Artists, poets and writers like F. Scott Fitzgerald moved to the area as an escape from the growing business-side of the city. Creative types continued to move to this area and help to create a cultural suburb. With so much creative influence, it is no wonder why residents find value in Giuliano’s School of Music located nearby with two great locations in Norwalk and Stamford.
